Introduction
The Quad Office Channel Unit (OCU) Module Set allows the DNX to interface with Channel Service and Data Service Units (CSU/DSU). It has four completely independent channels that support 56 Kbps or 64 Kbps, full duplex, serial data rates.
Capabilities and Features
The Quad OCU Module contains four individual data ports that provide for the electrical and physical termination of DDS loops. Each interface is a 4-wire, DDS compatible, full duplex, surge protected termination for the loop. Each port can be configured independently at the system console for either 56 or 64 Kbps. Framing bits are inserted on the line when 64 Kbps data operation is configured. The data stream is an Alternate Mark Inversion (AMI) encoded pulse stream.
Each port on the Quad OCU interface contains a DC power supply to provide sealing current. Each power supply is completely isolated from other circuitry. Sealing current is required to perform a remote loopback. When the CSU loopback is selected at the system console, the remote loopback is performed by reversing the sealing current direction to the distant CSU.
