Introduction
The DNX-resident DS3 Module is a broadband interface that allows configuration of up to 28 T1 channels per single slot-width. Voice and data applications, or both, can be channeled at the DS0 tier. This ability to congregate fractional T1s reduces backhaul inefficiencies.
Capabilities and Features
The DNX's DS3 capacity is six modules, or 168 DS1 equivalents. The ability to optionally configure DS3 interfaces with an N+1 sparing strategy enables service providers to remotely deploy broadband interfaces while eliminating concerns of prolonged service interruptions. With integral local/remote loopback and multi-pattern BER diagnostics, the DS3 module simplifies troubleshooting. Software upgrade is easily accomplished using TFTP.
Benefits
The ability to groom at the DS0 level results in savings on monthly backhaul costs. This feature is especially attractive for fractional T1 customers.
