Dan Smith is president and CEO of Sycamore Networks, Inc.

Mr. Smith is an industry veteran with a proven track record of driving companies large and small to revenue growth and market leadership. Under Mr. Smith's leadership, Sycamore has grown from a start-up to a global corporation serving some of the world's largest telecommunications providers.

Widely recognized as a networking industry leader, Forbes named Mr. Smith one of High Tech’s 30 Most Powerful CEOs. The Massachusetts Telecommunications Council named him CEO of the Year for 2000, and awarded Sycamore Networks with IPO of the Year for 2000. In 1995, Ernst & Young LLP named Mr. Smith New England Entrepreneur of the Year.

Previously, Mr. Smith was president and CEO of Cascade Communications Corp. Mr. Smith led Cascade as the company grew to become a worldwide leader in the frame relay and ATM markets for service providers, with sales approaching $500 million and 900 employees. Cascade was acquired by Ascend Communications for $3.7 billion in June 1997. During Mr. Smith's tenure at Ascend, he held the position of executive vice president and general manager of the core switching division, and was responsible for the core data switching and routing, and broadband access product divisions.

Prior to Cascade, Mr. Smith was vice president of sales and customer support at Proteon, Inc., a worldwide supplier of token ring networking products. While at Proteon, he developed the company's worldwide distribution channel, led the company to five-fold growth in sales, and contributed to its successful public offering in 1991.

Mr. Smith has been profiled in a number of major publications, including the Boston Globe, Telephony Magazine, and Business Week, where he was named one of the Leading Entrepreneurs in 2001. He has delivered keynote addresses at many industry events and business conferences, including OptiCon and Next Generation Networks.

Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Engineering from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. He also served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy, and is a Trustee of Lehigh University.

Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Administration, and Treasurer

Paul Brauneis is chief financial officer, vice president of finance and administration, and treasurer at Sycamore Networks, Inc., where he oversees finance, administration, legal, human resources, IT, and facility operations.

With over 25 years of financial management experience in the communications industry, Mr. Brauneis has played key roles at highly respected public companies and in numerous M&A transactions. He brings proven financial expertise, operational skills, and strategic planning leadership to the Sycamore executive management team.

Before joining Sycamore, Mr. Brauneis served as executive vice president of finance and administration, chief financial officer, and treasurer at Cantata Technology, which was acquired by Dialogic Corporation. Prior to his role at Cantata, Mr. Brauneis served as senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at Avici Systems.

Previously, Mr. Brauneis was chief financial officer at Spinnaker Software, and held key financial management positions at Wang Global, BBN Corporation, and M/A-Com, Inc. He began his career at Price Waterhouse, where he held a number of senior-level auditing positions.

Mr. Brauneis holds a B.S. in Accounting from Boston College, where he graduated with honors, and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Massachusetts. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Air Medal for his service in the U.S. Army.

General Counsel and Secretary

Sycamore Networks, Inc.

Alan Cormier is general counsel and secretary at Sycamore Networks, Inc., where he is responsible for all aspects of Sycamore's legal department functions, practices, and policies.

With over 25 years of legal experience working for public companies, Mr. Cormier joined Sycamore as general counsel in December 2004, and was appointed secretary in November 2006.

Before joining Sycamore, Mr. Cormier served as vice president, general counsel and secretary of Manufacturers' Services Limited, a contract manufacturing company. Prior to that, he served as vice president, general counsel, and clerk of Dynamics Research Corporation, a provider of information technology, engineering, logistics, and other consulting services to federal and state agencies.

Mr. Cormier also spent several years in senior positions in the legal department of Wang Global Corporation (formerly Wang Laboratories, Inc.).

Mr. Cormier holds a B.A. from Brandeis University and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

Vice President, Operations

Sycamore Networks, Inc.

John Dowling is vice president of operations at Sycamore Networks, Inc. where he is responsible for all manufacturing and systems integration activities.

Mr. Dowling has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and data networking industries, and is recognized as a pioneer in adapting manufacturing partnerships to meet customers' requirements for scheduling and quality.

Prior to joining Sycamore, Mr. Dowling was vice president of operations at Nortel Networks, Aptis Communications – which was acquired by Nortel – and Cascade Communications. At all three companies, Mr. Dowling was responsible for managing the manufacture of carrier class, high availability products that meet and exceed customer requirements for quality and reliability.

Previously, Mr. Dowling held management positions at Data General, where he was responsible for minicomputer high end peripheral products, and Eastman Kodak, where he developed manufacturing strategies for high volume consumer products.

Mr. Dowling holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont and an M.S. in Manufacturing & Management Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Vice President, Systems and Technology

Sycamore Networks, Inc.

Kevin Oye is the vice president of systems and technology at Sycamore Networks, Inc., where he oversees all R&D, product, and technology direction for the company.

Mr. Oye began his tenure at Sycamore as vice president of business development, where he was responsible for acquisitions, industry partnerships, and new business ventures, such as in the successful acquisition of Sirocco Systems in 2000.

Before joining Sycamore, Mr. Oye was vice president of strategy and business development at Lucent Technologies, where he played a key role in fourteen acquisitions and strategic partnerships to expand the company's market leadership position in data networking. Mr. Oye orchestrated the $24 billion acquisition of Ascend Communications, Inc., and the $246 million acquisition of Xedia.

Prior to Lucent, Mr. Oye held various management positions with AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he was responsible for advanced market planning as well as development and advanced technology management for a variety of telecommunications systems.

Mr. Oye is frequently invited to speak and keynote at conferences hosted by prestigious industry, business, and financial institutions. Mr. Oye has spoken and keynoted at events hosted by Business Communications Review, Harvard Business School, and Morgan Stanley, among many others.

Mr. Oye completed a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Support

Sycamore Networks, Inc.

John Scully is vice president of worldwide sales and support at Sycamore Networks, Inc., where he leads the company's global sales, professional services, and customer support efforts.

Mr. Scully brings to Sycamore more than 20 years of sales, marketing, and management experience in the communications industry. Most recently, he drove revenues and new account generation to record levels at Eastern Research, Inc. Mr. Scully combines comprehensive sales and team-building skills with strong systems knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of customer management.

Prior to joining Eastern, Mr. Scully served as vice president of sales for Test Link/Tel Link – directing all sales and marketing efforts for the company's test and wide-area access products. He grew sales to resellers, OEMs, and carriers from $50,000 to $3,000,000 in under two years.

Mr. Scully previously worked at Madge Networks/Teleos as director of U.S. sales – achieving a record $32 million in revenue while opening new branch offices in major U.S. markets. He also played key roles in sales and marketing at Datatel, Cray Communications, and Data Decisions – consistently overachieving revenue targets in positions of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Scully holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
